Job Description:
We are looking for a results-driven VMware software engineer to optimize our VMware related deliverables. You will be developing VMware custom image builds, integrating multiple virtual servers on a single host machine, and providing automation developments, developing and packaging the automation images with OS, drivers, and/or SW tools for the manufacturing installation processes.
To ensure success as a VMware software engineer, you should exhibit good knowledge of VMware ESX and related technologies, and experience in a similar role. An accomplished VMwaresoftware engineer will be someone whose expertise results in the successful integration of VMware product enablements across multiple Lenovo hardware platforms.
VMware Software Engineer Responsibilities:
• Determining business needs and evaluating existing development infrastructure and systems.
• Optimizing hardware and software integreation to enable VMware custom image builds.
• Developing and deploying customized VMware solutions.
• Defining multiple virtual servers on a single host machine.
• Providing identification/fixing of problems within existing software, design/implementation of new systems and enhancement of existing automations
• Design and develop test automation for different modules of the product using python / java / bash
• Installing operating systems and service packs, as well as security patches and bug fixes.
• Troubleshooting and resolving VMware hardware enablement issues.
• Providing technical support and documenting VMware processes.
• Keeping informed of developments in VMware technologies and products.
VMware Engineer Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, computer programming, or similar.
• Proficiency in VMware associated programs and coding languages, such as Windows/RHEL/SLES/Ubuntu OSes, Python, and C++.
• Extensive knowledge of the fundamentals of VMware ESX and related technologies.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Exceptional analytical and technical aptitude.
• Great organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience on Windows batch & Linux shell script
• Experience on Python
• Ability to assemble and troubleshoot server class hardware
• Perform the above mentioned responsibilities in a team environment
Preferred Skills:
• Proficiency with Next Generation server hardware features, functions and behavior
• Familiarity with hypervisor technologies (VMware ESXi, KVM)
• VMWare Certified Professional (VCP) preferred.
• Deep understanding of enterprise-architecture concepts, risk
• Experience on Linux & VMware environment
• Experience on VBS script
• Automate server deployments using VMWare APIs
