Software Engineer for Measurements Team
Citi is seeking a highly motivated Software Engineer to join the Measurement Team in the Developer Engineering functions within ICG Technology. The team’s goal is to use data to transform the working environment of over 18,000 developers, researchers and staff in the Institutional Clients Group (“ICG”).
The measurement action stream has three broad goals: to measure the progress of the department towards its outcomes; to establish meaningful measures that development teams leverage; and finally to reinforce positive behaviors via the influence of measurement. The team requires practitioners who are not only skilled in data science, but ones who intimately understand the development process and can also contribute to the wider initiative’s cultural goals.
The successful candidate will collaborate with the team to imagine, design, develop, test, and automate big data solutions. Your job will write systems to process large amounts of data from multiple sources and make it accessible, meaningful and actionable both for direct use by development teams and for senior management consumption. This team is a key strategic function and will take part in wider departmental initiatives.
Job Description
- Contributes as part of an expert team of software engineers/data scientists
- Responsible for systems that gather and process data/measures/reports
- Moving repetitive tasks to automation through scripting
- Ensures alignment of measures and metrics
- Drives adoption of measures and metrics by development teams
- Improves data quality across the entire estate
- Evolves measurement through continuous improvement
- Ensures measures are useful to development teams
- Derives measures for senior management consumption from these
- Implements solutions for reporting issues with broad impact

Requirements
- Proven Expertise in the development process, ideally from working in development teams in a large company
- Looking for people who have built things from scratch and moved them through to production.
- Expert Level Java/Python Skills is necessary for this role. (Typically 5+ years)
- Experience in designing systems from scratch (Be prepared to provide examples and understand the impact of those systems)
- Knowledge of Microservice Architecture would significantly help you be successful in this role
- Ability to work tactically in the short-term and strategically for the long-term
- Understanding of data science/data engineering basics
- Working proficiency in SQL is a requirement.
- Knowledge of Graph Databases will help you be successful in this role.
- Experience with Agile SDLC methods
- Scrum, Kanban, etc.
