Key job responsibilities
Our challenges are unique – you will solve technical challenges in large-scale distributed computing, performance, scalability, security, working with our custom built and AWS technologies. You will drive future solutions that will impact how we run Prime Video worldwide and interface with many teams.

A day in the life
You will work as part of one of our small Agile teams, launching and growing new initiatives for Amazon’s global business. As an engineer, you can be involved in every aspect of the process – from idea generation, business analysis and technical design through to development and deployment across a variety of technologies – giving you a real sense of ownership. Together we build systems which meet high standards of performance and reliability and operate at massive scale.

About the team
We are looking for a Software Development Engineer to join the Prime Video Location team. We ensure that the customer is delivered the Prime Video experience that is personalised to the locale they are in and enable them to watch the content they are entitled to. We are leading innovation with Native AWS technologies that are breaking new ground for Prime Video and Amazon globally, and have written content for the AWS Open Source Blog. Our services are fundamental to the Prime Video experience and we handle all requests from millions of Prime Video customers worldwide. We prioritise operational excellence and availability given the customer impact and failure modes of our systems. You will have the opportunity to work on some of the most highly scaled and low latency AWS services at Amazon – think hundreds of thousands of transactions per second.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
  • Non-internship professional software development experience
  • Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Evidence of working with algorithms, data-structures, efficiency, concurrency, performance optimization.
  • Highly proficient in Java.
  • Cloud computing, large-scale and high-availability distributed architecture.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Experience with core AWS services, specifically including DynamoDB, SNS, SQS.
