Job Description
We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join our User Fraud team. Our mission is to ensure the integrity of Spotify’s growth by detecting, mitigating, and preventing unwanted behaviour on our platform.You will join a multi-functional team of data/backend/ML engineers and data scientists, working together to continuously experiment, iterate and deliver on new fraud prevention products. You will build backend services and data pipelines powering our fraud prevention platform and you will help the team move fraud insights into high-quality engineering solutions that are robust and scalable.For this role, we are looking for an engineer who has a genuine passion for data and wants to learn and discover new tech and develop new competencies. You will drive our backend work but you will also highly contribute to our data infrastructure, data pipelines and data strategy.What you will do
- Directly contribute to the design and architecture of Spotify’s fraud prevention platform
- Build, maintain and operate backend services for fast and accurate prevention of unwanted behaviour
- Build large-scale batch and real-time data pipelines with data processing frameworks like Scio and the Google Cloud Platform feeding into our fraud prevention logic
- Develop in different technologies and infrastructure, ranging from Java to Scala and Python.
- Use standard methodologies in continuous integration and delivery.
- Be a role model for engineering excellence and high-quality craftsmanship
- Mentor other engineers to help them reach their full potential
Who you are
- BS/MS in CS or relevant working experience
- Demonstrable experience with designing and building highly scalable backend systems/data pipelines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- Strong coding skills preferably in either Java, Scala, or Python
- Basic understanding of building and operating cloud-based services
- Worked in teams with both data engineers, data scientists, and backend engineers
- Have experience operating backend services and/or data pipelines
- Curious and passionate about learning new skills within other domains
- A great team player
- Have the ability and passion to explain complex topics in simple terms
