We are looking for a Data Engineer to join the Lyrics team to develop and improve the Lyrics backend systems and data pipelines. Our systems need to be stable, scalable and performant to support growing usage of Lyrics both internally and externally, and the work to deliver this will ensure that Lyrics continues to have a high positive impact on our critical metrics.
Lyrics is a distributed and fully cross-functional team, with team members across Product, Insights, Design and Tech. Within Tech, you will collaborate closely with fellow iOS, Android and Backend Engineers in the squad, as well as engineers from across the business.
What you’ll do
- Research, prototype, implement and drive solutions, passionate about handling complex third-party data ingestion systems
- Understand and evaluate existing systems, define and implement technical improvements, to ensure the performance of a high-traffic system with large end-user impact
- Create and update and evangelises standards and documentation that improve the experience for people working with data at Spotify
- Work closely with internal and external customers, including client engineers, to capture and align requirements
Who you are
- You love Data Engineering
- You have experience and/or interest in Backend Engineering
- You are Data centric (able to morph between an Engineer and Scientist)
- You have a strong understanding of data systems
- You are knowledgeable and passionate about improving and building data platforms
- You are familiar with current engineering practices such as distributed architecture
- You are curious about new technologies and finding uses and insights for all types of data
- You will have experience working on and building distributed data pipelines and systems that ingest huge amounts of data across multiple sources and brands.
- You will have experience working with Scala, Python, Scio & BigTable
