  • As a Member of Technical Staff 1 in PayPal’s Developer Productivity Engineering organisation, you will be a senior developer and will have an impact in designing solutions for PayPal’s developers and PayPal products all around the world. You will have to understand the needs of our developers, process, identify opportunities and improve our eco system to drive efficiency across entire organisation.

In your day to day role you will be responsible for:

  • In this role you will develop and partially lead Frameworks development of Developer Productivity Engineering, you will utilize your past development and design experience and influence the architecture of our Frameworks and infrastructure across PayPal. You will work in cloud technologies such as Docker, Mesos, Aurora and cloud providers such as GCP to build not just testing eco-system but the next generation of PayPal Development infrastructure. 
  • You will be a technical leader in understanding the problems, conceiving the solutions, and building solutions that can help produce highest quality products, scale the infrastructure and reduce operational costs. 
  • You will help optimising machine learning algorithms that categorise test methodologies and provide solutions to developers. You will also be working with a team of strong engineers who enable the rest of development community to quickly and reliably test, validate and release. 
  • You will use your knowledge to influence better software design, promote proper engineering practice, bug prevention strategies, testability, accessibility, and other advanced quality concepts across products and among all the stakeholders. This person will be building frameworks, tools and solutions for the rest of PayPal developer community. 
  • Work directly with Architecture, Product Managers, Program Managers and stakeholders from clients that integrates with the frameworks and tools.

What do you need to bring:

  • Should have 8+ years of hands-on experience in designing and developing scalable web services, backend services and platforms. 
  • Experience in providing technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams. 
  • Strong experience in some of the following technologies is highly desirable: Java, Python, Golang, Node.js, Docker, Mesos, Aurora, Kubernetes, BigQuery and Google Cloud Technologies , Kafka, Machine Learning and scripting
  • Experience in building Frameworks, products for technology platforms is a must. 
  • Knowledge of Go and GDS a huge plus 
  • Knowledge and experience in cloud technologies and Google Cloud a huge plus 
  • Prior experience in building infrastructure for instrumenting, reporting, monitoring and alerting 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences. 
  • BS or MS in computer science or equivalent
