Job Description

Batch – 2022/2021/2020 & earlier

We’re looking for Software Development Engineers who want to join an ambitious team whose goal is to expand the reach and growth of Amazon’s projects.

Teams that you could join:
Physical Stores

The core service teams for Physical Stores – payments, checkout, fraud & abuse prevention and third-party commercialization are hiring Software Developement Engineers 1 & II! With 125+ first-party stores and 15 third-party stores, it is still day one with many first-time solutions still to be built! This is an exciting time to be part of the core services teams that power these technologies. To do so, you will work in the area of Computer Vision, Machine Learning and innovating in Payments space.

Part of the Physical Stores, the ASSET team owns the JWO interfaces used by the “buyer” of Amazon’s Just Walk Out Technologies. (cameras/gates), Amazon One, Dash Card. The buyers are typically large retail or entertainment brands, e.g. Whole Food Market, Hudson News, etc. This team builds the gateways for API integrations to payment, order, and similar services offered by JWO. This team also owns the billing systems that invoice the retail customers for the technology. Lastly, the team builds console/portal experiences for tech configuration (e.g. setting store tax rates and locations), and collection of data and analytics.

These services are in their early days, it is very much day one in building these capabilities with customers and determining which features are saleable patters vs. failed POCs. We must figure out how customers (the retailers) want to consume these services and integrate them with their ERP and retail management systems. Thinking though promotions, to fraud, to value-add analytics are all in scope for this team. Building contribution models for JWO tech teams to quickly create compelling valuable experiences for our customers is critical for the scale success of both today’s and tomorrow’s JWO tech.

The role: As a Software Development Engineer in the Physical Stores Tech organization, your work will require you to solve challenging problems at global scale and develop new functionalities across a broad swath of Amazon services and businesses. You’ll have the opportunity to dive deep into the technologies powering Amazon’s physical store programs and adapt creative solutions to new problems. You should be comfortable building prototypes and challenging assumptions, while also developing for fault tolerance and scale.

As a leader on the team, you will be responsible for leading the development and launch of core product features. You will have significant influence on our overall strategy by helping define these product features, system design, and best practices.

Other responsibilities include:

* Leading development and maintenance of key system features
* Working with other team members to investigate design approaches
* Prototyping designs and testing them with teammates
* Working in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high quality software against aggressive schedules

Content Creation, LEO Tech

Content Creation builds tools and capabilities that enable marketers to self-service effective and compelling customer experiences across Amazon’s owned and operated channels. We support a variety of businesses at Amazon with marketing systems that elevate the customer experience and deepen the trust in our brand. Through our tools, our customers generate visual assets and widgets that are being used in impactful marketing campaigns, displayed on Amazon retail websites, emails and social media.

As part of the Content Creation Team, you will be architecting, developing and maintaining our products, frequently collaborating directly with product management and UX design to iterate at a fast pace and delight our end users. We leverage modern cloud technologies and build distributed and scalable APIs to automate and improve recommendations for marketing banners and widgets. You will have the opportunity to learn advanced AWS features and apply Machine Learning on both the marketing creative and the customer profile with the end goal of improving our campaign gold star metric.

Part of Content Creation, the Content Layout team owns the platform where design technologists can define and compose templates for both banners and widgets. This platform is at the very early stages and has the goal to scale the design efforts of Amazon employees with reusable components that can be swapped in and out and styled according to an event or brand. For scaling marketing administration tasks, this team is building an ML powered ranking API that can suggest the best performing components, style and layout depending on the campaigns objective, the type of customer and the position on a page (for example above or below the fold)

The role: We are looking for a software development engineer eager to work in a team of innovators and contribute to a suite of tools that power operations like visual design, marketing ideation, testing and measurement. The Content Creation Team supports a variety of businesses at Amazon with marketing systems that elevate the customer experience and deepen the trust in our brand. We build tools and capabilities that enable marketers to self-service effective and compelling customer experiences across Amazon’s owned and operated channels. These include systems that:

* Define and standardize brand and marketing events styling and customer experience guardrails;
* Self-serve visual marketing assets;
* Administer marketing content elements or artefacts for reuse;
* Track, monitor and offer performance insights of various marketing vectors like message, content and visuals;
